Blue Jackets Tie A Franchise Record With 8th Straight Win

The Columbus Blue Jackets are scary good when healthy!  Scratch that, they are downright lethal.  This Jackets team is as healthy as it can be, and NO ONE can beat them.

They tore through Western Canada winning all 3, went into Chicago and St Louis and smacked them around.  Came home and beat Anaheim, New Jersey and NYI.  Make it 8 straight, tying a franchise record set last season.

In that span were two hat tricks, a 3 game suspension, guys coming back from IR and a controversial scratch (among fans of course).

Of course the downfall to this winning streak is the fact that they are playing themselves out of a top pick.  Some fans continue to rip the team for not tanking, TRUE fans understand that tanking in unacceptable and will never tolerate it.  I’m on that side, I would rather my team not tank.  I could never forgive myself, or the fans, if they cheered an opposing teams goal.  They would be soaked with beverages if they were near me in the stands.

They have managed to drag themselves out of 7th in the metro, up to the 5th spot with 80 points.  A point up on Philly and 5 on New Jersey.  I know what some of you are thinking “Wow, all that winning and we’re still only a point up on Philly?”  Yes, that’s right.  But consider this, when the streak started, we were about 10 points back or so of Philly.  New Jersey, who is shooting for a top pick ***wink wink*** has lost 6 straight.  The CBJ were 11 points back of them, now they are 5 points up.

After beating the Devils last Tuesday night, and with Boston gaining a point, the CBJ were eliminated from the playoff conversation.  3 weeks ago, the team was expected to be eliminated, they held on to the last minute and had meaningful games with 6 to go.  They are also 2 wins away from guaranteeing a .500 season.

The CBJ will go over 500 man games lost before the season expires.  A number that boggles the mind.  Only 2 players have played every game this year, Ryan Johansen and David Savard. No coincidence both players are having their best years. Ryan Johansen is earning his paycheck.

The CBJ have 5 games left.  Three of the Five teams are fighting for playoff positions, NYR, Pittsburgh and NYI.  These Jackets are going to fight for every point and try to win out the season.  Throw caution to the wind and lay down the law in the Metro.  Let everyone know that when the next season rolls around and everyone is healthy, EXPECT A BLOODBATH in the Metro.  You’ve been warned!
