With Injuries Mounting, Time To Pull The Trigger???
By: Jeff Little • January 5th, 2009
With this morning’s Dispatch reporting that Huselius is out for at least Tuesday with concussion-like symptoms and Novotny is also down, it seems like time to make some important personnel decisions.
With the rumors flying about a Toronto deal for Antropov and Kubina, or an Ottawa deal of some sort, now would seem like a perfect time to pull the trigger, particularly if the Toronto potenital involves only draft picks.
Alternatively, or in addition to any trade moves, Russia completes it’s run at the World Juniors today. It will not take Filatov any more time to get to Detroit than it would to get to Syracuse, and with Huselius out, we really need skill, not grinding.
So, let’s hope that Howson has some announcements to make today. Your thoughts???
A native of the SF Bay Area, my first exposure to hockey was the SF/Oakland/California Golden Seals, including Charlie Finley and the white skates. Fast forward to the late 1980's when Gretzky and the Kings came up to the Bay Area for an exhibition game at the Oakland Coliseum Arena, for which we had glass seats. I was at the first San Jose Sharks game in the Cow Palace, and followed them for their first few pathetic years, before moving to Columbus in 1994. I attended the first pro-NHL rally downtown, and have been a season ticket holder since Day 1, wife & I are active in the Jacket Backers, and son is an avid fan as well. I cover the Jackets for Inside Hockey, and contribute regularly to a variety of hockey sites. I maintain contact with the Jackets organization, and like to dig into stories, bringing a fresh, and sometimes irreverent perspective to hockey.

Puck Rakers is saying they wouldn’t be surprised to see a deal go down sometime this week. Something needs to break open soon. As for Filatov, I don’t think we have the luxury of giving him more “seasoning” in the ‘Cuse.
To me, at this point in time, it’s “put up or shut up” time. The chemistry is there, the voids need to be filled. It’s time to play.

As for bringing up ‘Cuse players, why the heck not? Do the CBJ stand any better or worse chance against the Wings?
And, why not FINALLY bring up Sesito, as well as (obviously) bringing up Filatov? Could they be any worse off having Sesito play than, say, Boll (sophmore jinx, indeed) or Picard?
I think giving Filatov the shot against the Wings could bring a different dynamic than what they’ve seen with the current crop. Again, what’s there to lose?

boll ( i love him ) but is having a horrible year… when he fighhts he gets smoked… he doest post any points… why not put someone out there who can help us insted of just a guy who can take face rockets…
and its not like he plays the AGITATOR role anyway… when was the last time you saw one of our guys go after the top stars on the other team… never…
instead we get to watch huse get smoked in the face and watch nasher get mauled nightly…
WE NEED AN AGITATOR NOT A FIGHTER
fighters and fighting has a place on this team granted but we gotta have more than JUST THAT out of a guy…
i say keep dorsett and get rid of boll… we dont need 2 of those guys…
