October 24-29 CBJ Prospect Review

The Springfield Falcons appear to be alternating weekends after going 0-3 last weekend the team went 3-0 including 2 wins in overtime. Leading the way for the Falcons was leading scorer Nicolas Drazenovic with 5 points(1-4-5). David Savard and Martin St. Pierre both had 4 points with Savard having 4 assists and St. Pierre with a goal and 3 assists. Cam Atkinson added 2 more goals to give him 3 in the AHL all on the power play.

Both Anton Forsberg and Petr Straka didnt play any this week, Forsberg served as Mikael Tellqvist back up in all 3 games thos week. Petr Straka missed the week because he was sick.

Boone Jenner, Oshawa Generals(OHL)
Last Weeks Stats: 3GP 2-2-4 +2 4PIM
Boone and Generals started the week on a good note picking up his fifth multi point game of the season when he scored 2 goals and added a assist in a 5-3 win over the Belleville Bulls. Jenner’s first goal actually looked a lot like a shot he took just a few seconds before in the same shift(46 seconds into video). Jenner’s assist came off a faceoff win that a Generals defenseman blasted in for a goal. Jenner went pointless in Oshawa’s 6-2 loss to Owen Sound before bouncing back with a assist in the team’s 5-2 loss to Mississauga.

Dalton Smith, Ottawa 67s(OHL)
Last Weeks Stats: 2GP 0-0-0 E 0PIM
Dalton returned to the 67s lineup after his 10 game suspension last week with the 67s going 2-0 last week both games required extra time with one being overtime and the other being in a shootout, Dalton didnt have any points in either game.

Brandon Archibald, Saginaw Spirit(OHL)
Last Week Stats: 3GP 0-0-0 E 0PIM
Brandon and the Spirit went 1-2 last week with Brandon picking up a assist in the team’s loss to Plymouth. Brandon has 3 points this year in 16 games the same amount of points he had in 29 games after the Spirit acquired him in a trade.

Lukas Sedlak, Chicoutimi Sagueneens(QMJHL)
Last Week Stats: 3GP 0-0-0 -6 0PIM
It was a rough week for both Sedlak and the Sags last week as the team went 0-3. I think Sedlak may still be feeling the effects of the ankle injury he suffered awhile back. Sedlak had a rough night at the dot against PEI winning only 8 of 24 before bouncing back to win a combined 21 of 34 faceoffs in the last 2 games last week.

Mathieu Corbeil, Saint John Sea Dogs(QMJHL)
Last Week Stats: 2GP 2-0 .942Sv% 1.50GAA
Mathieu continued his strong play of late despite having his team record shutout streak to 144:43. The streak was snapped in the Dog’s sixth straight win over the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles. Corbeil had a assist(30 seconds in) on team captain and Panther’s first round pick Jonathan Huberdeau’s goal in the 6-3 win. The next night Saint John welcomed Sedlak and the Sagueneens this was the night Saint John finally got to raise it’s Memorial Cup banners and the players got there rings. Corbeil picked up his 3rd shutout in 4 games when he made 14 saves to win his 11th game of the season.

Michael Chaput, Shawinigan Cataractes(QMJHL)
Last Week Stats: 3GP 1-3-4 +5 4PIM
Michael and the Cats went 2-0-0-1 last week, Chaput went pointless in the team’s win over Baie-Comeau winning 12 of 22 faceoffs. The next game the Cats took on the Petr Straka less Oceanic with Chaput scoring the eventual game winner and winning 20 of 32 faceoffs and was named first star. The last game of the week was against the Ouebec Remparts, Michael had 3 assists, Chaput won 20 of the 35 faceoffs he took but missed in the shootout.

Austin Madaisky, Kamloops Blazers(WHL)
Last Weeks Stats: 2GP 0-1-1 -2 2PIM
Last week was a home and home between the Blazers and the Kelowna Rockets with the Blazers winning both. Madaisky picked up a assist in the team’s 5-2 win on Friday. Madaisky is still among the WHL defensemen scoring leaders with 12 points in 15 games which is tied for 7th. The Blazers are the second highest ranked WHL team in the CHL top 10 with a 11-3-0-0 record.

Mike Reilly, Penticton Vees(BCHL)
Last Week Stats: 1GP 1-2-3 2PIM
Mike was the least busiest of all the Jackets prospects last week only playing 1 game. In the Vees overtime win over Merritt Mike had a goal and 2 assists to add to his 8 game point streak(7-6-13). Reilly continues to lead the Vees and BCHL defenseman in scoring with 21 points in 15 games. It was the second straight game with 3 points. Mike will be taking part in the World Junior A Challenge playing for Team USA November 7-13 in Langley B.C.
