Jackets Are 1-1 After the Opening Weekend!

After much anticipation, the 2013-14 Season has finally started!  The Jackets opened the season at home versus the Calgary Flames.  The boys came out flat and played a little soft for my taste.  In all fairness, The CBJ hadn’t really had any contact in 8 days.  Meanwhile the Flames were coming off of a game the night before.  The Flames came out guns a blazing and took the lead quickly.  The Jackets battled back through-out the night and scored a goal with about 4 minutes left, but came up short in the end.  Bobrovsky made 28 saves, but looked soft at times.

The next night, The CBJ traveled to Long Island to take on the Islanders.  The Jackets scored a Pair of 3rd period goals to push it into overtime.  Bobrovsky made 27 saves and made a few dazzling saves in the shootout.  Cam Atkinson scored the deciding shootout goal to seal the deal vs New York.

The CBJ scored 5 goals through the first 2 games.  Of those 5 goals, they were scored by 5 different Jackets.  Also 9 different Jackets have chipped in with assists as well.  I think we all expected some more goals, 2.5 goals a game obviously isn’t going to get it done in the long run!  But, its early in the season, and these guys will turn up the heat, I’m positive about that.

Overall, I honestly don’t have an opinion of how I feel about the first 2 games.  As a fan, I was a little shook up about that first game.  But, I wasn’t ready to jump off of the cliff just yet.  Game 2 showed me that these guys can come back from a 2 goal deficit and win the game.  The game versus the Islanders very much reminded me of last season.  And THAT, makes me excited about this season.  So now its off to Buffalo on Thursday, and I will have the TV on full blast, listening to My Guys Jeff Rimmer and Bill Davidge broadcast the game.  Tune in, you won’t be disappointed!
