There are a plethora of question marks heading into the 2010-11 season for the Columbus Blue Jackets. Can goaltender Steve Mason return to his Calder-winning form of 2008-09 and justify his recent two-year $5.8 million extension? Can Derick Brassard establish himself as a top six center and the playmaker with an eye for the net that put [...]

Boucher offered CBJ coaching job
The Columbus Blue Jackets have offered their head coaching position to Guy Boucher, as broken by the Columbus Dispatch. Boucher will reportedly take the weekend to mull over the offer before making his decision early next week. Boucher, 38, spent this past season coaching the Hamilton Bulldogs, the American Hockey League affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens. [...]

The Blue Jackets are nine points out of eighth place in the West with only 19 games remaining in the season. That’s a pretty big margin to make up in the final month and a half of the season, and General Manager Scott Howson is not expected to do anything to make it easier. The Blue Jackets will be sellers on Wednesday’s trade deadline.

Interesting tidbit appeared in The Sporting News, and is quickly making its way around the hockey online community: During a conversation with Carolina GM Jim Rutherford about the Canes, the conversation shifted to the future of defenseman Anton Babchuk. Babchuk is coming off a 16-goal season but the restricted free agent rejected Carolina’s one-year offer. [...]

The Tomas Kaberle saga appears to have come to an end with the kick-in of a non-movement clause in his contract. How interested the Blue Jackets brass was in Kaberle, will likely never be known. Some reports linked right winger Jake Voracek to a potential deal, but trading away young talent isn’t exactly Blue Jackets [...]

Could Tomas Kaberle be wearing a Blue Jacket jersey this fall? Perhaps. Has Howson put a call into Leafs GM Brian Burke? Most likely. Now for those of you that tuned in to the NHL Draft a few weeks ago, you will recall the rumors of a deal that had Kaberle going to Boston inexchange [...]

Let’s start with these assumptions (I know what happens when you assume but…). The Blue Jackets must, not like to or would help or anything else, have a offensive defenseman that can quarterback the power play. The other assumption is that the CBJ have too many quality wingers and would like to move one or [...]

When I first heard this rumor I completely looked passed it, living in Ottawa the media has been all over Dany Heatley. The media has made this player out to be a complete waste of money, a cancer in the dressing and a bust. Overblown? maybe just a little. I did not see anyone complaining [...]

Just got an email from someone who is really connected to the draft, he use to be apart of HockeysFuture team when Sirius/XM’s Shane Malloy was in charge “The Isles 2nd first round selection, 26th overall and their surplus second rounders are DEFINITELY going somewhere in a move up, and it will depend upon when they think that [...]

Following up from yesterdays post about trying to potentially land an established number one center to play along side Rick Nash, this got me thinking. What type of package would GM Howson have to put together to land a player of Jason Spezza or Patrick Marleau’s caliber. Between Marleau and Spezza, I believe Marleau would [...]
