Blue Jackets – Sharks Preview (3/6/2010)

After falling in their first game back from the Olympic break, the Columbus Blue Jackets will go away from Nationwide Arena for the first of a three game road trip. The Blue Jackets will take on the San Jose Sharks Saturday night, 10:30pm ET.
The Sharks will come in with the most points in the Western Conference. San Jose is 40-13-9 overall with 89 points. The Sharks lead the Chicago Blackhawks for the number 1 seed in the conference. When playing at home, the Sharks are 19-5-7. The Sharks have been successful due to their offense. On the season, San Jose leads the Western Conference with 204 goals, only behind the Washington Capitals with 247. Joe Thornton paces the way for San Jose, scoring just 16 goals, but leading with 59 assists. Goaltender Evgeni Nabokov has been solid between the pipes winning 34 games, losing 9, with 9 overtime losses.
For the Blue Jackets, they will attempt to climb their way out of the Central Division basement. Columbus is five points behind fourth place St. Louis. The Blue Jackets have won just 10 of 32 on the road this season.
