Blue Jackets lose to the Blues

The St. Louis Blues took another step towards their second straight playoff berth by scoring five goals in the final two periods to beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 5-1.
Andy McDonald scored two goals and dished out an assist for the Blues. David Backes, David Perron, Alexander Steen and B.J. Crombeen also scored goals to lead St. Louis to their seventh win in last eight games. The lone goal for the Blue Jackets came in the third period to spoil Chris Mason’s shut-out effort. The goal for Columbus was scored by Jake Vorachek.

In front of 16,453 at Nationwide Arena the Blues outs hot the Blue Jackets 36-25. St. Louis was penalized for 16 minutes, while Columbus committed six penalties for 12 minutes. The win for St. Louis moved them to 32-26-9, while the loss for the Blue Jackets sent them to 27-31-11.

The win for the Blues also pushed them to five points back of eighth seeded Detroit with just 15 games to play in the regular season.
