Just talked to Scott Howson, “Vermette is done. 5 year extension.” More to come as I am getting ready to interview Vermette. Check back. Quotes from Vermette “With Nash resigning, it definitely makes it a lot more attractive to stick around… It’s very exciting to be a part of this.” “I like it here. I [...]

My roots for the game come from Fort Wayne where the Komets of the IHL play. They are the most successful minor league hockey program in the U.S. drawing on average of over 10,000 people. Then as I have moved to the Columbus region and the Blue Jackets opened up shop, my passion for the sport as well as the NHL grew even more. I am credentialed by the Blue Jackets and have been covering the team and continue to do so for Hockeybuzz.com since 2007. I have developed some great relationships with the team including front office, coaches and players. I continue to drive to give the Blue Jacket fanbase an inside view that is critical but fair.

The off season has been long and many things have happened over this period since the CBJ was bounced out of the post-season by the Red Wings. August 1st, 2009 | Eric Smith | 3 comments | ContinuedWho Must Go?
Let’s start with these assumptions (I know what happens when you assume but…). The Blue Jackets must, not like to or would help or anything else, have a offensive defenseman that can quarterback the power play. The other assumption is that the CBJ have too many quality wingers and would like to move one or [...]

Who would have thought going into this free agency period that the only Blue Jacket free agent to find work as of July 3rd morning was Aaron Rome? Rome signed a 1 year contract with Vancouver early on the first day worth $550,000. Some of the free agents you knew were going to have to [...]

Going into this free agent period, the Blue Jackets have far more answers than they did this time last year. That being said, there are still some questions that will need to be answered. I will go line by line and then discuss possible answers for them. 1st Line: Nash – Brassard – Huselius — [...]
