2015 NHL All-Star Game coming to Columbus

It seems like just yesterday I was excited about the NHL All-Star Game coming to Columbus. I planned it all out, motel room, tickets, the works. Then the lockout happened, and crushed my dreams. The All-Star game was taken from us, and seemingly gone for good.

What I thought was lost, is now, once again, a reality! During tonight’s Blue Jackets game vs the Penguins, it was announced that the 2015 All-Star Game will come to Columbus! The announcement was made by NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman himself and honestly came as a bit of a surprise to me. I expected Columbus to just be forgotten in the consideration for future games. Let’s be honest, that’s how it seems to go as a CBJ fan.

From the press release:

The 2015 NHL All-Star Game will be the first time the NHL All-Star activities will take place in Columbus, becoming the third consecutive first-time All-Star host city.  Raleigh in 2011 and Ottawa in 2012 also were first-time hosts.  The Blue Jackets and Columbus previously hosted an NHL signature event, successfully welcoming thousands of NHL fans, executives and personalities for the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

Columbus is an ideal host city for our All-Star Celebration,” NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman said. “The facilities are first-rate, the Blue Jackets are exciting and entertaining and the fans passionately support their team and our League. Our players, sponsors, media and guests are looking forward to being in Columbus for the All-Star activities.”

I, for one, will be doing my best to get tickets to the All-Star festivities. Be it a quarter season pass, or eBay, I will definitely be there. Now I just have one question left, who will Columbus send to the All-Star Game? Right now my money is on Bob, if he can pull it together again.

Another one I haven’t seen, but must find. It sounds like it’s right up my alley! And how much do I love Jean Arthur? A LOT! You are building my classic film library up nicely! Thank you!
